Thank you for your interest in sponsoring a county for the ALGenWeb portion of the USGenWeb Project. The USGenWeb Project has a very ambitious goal: to provide genealogical indices for each county within the United States. That goal is simply not obtainable without a cooperative effort of thousands of volunteers from across the country (and the world).
That is where you fit in. With minimal effort, you can adopt a county in Alabama and create a ALGenWeb page for it. The cost of participation is low. We ask only for the time it takes to gather information and create county page(s) based on that information.
After acceptance, the process of creating a county's genealogy page is simple:
Create a genealogy page for the county you have selected using the
USGenWeb and
ALGenWeb guidelines.
Include information on your page that would be useful to genealogists researching your county.
Include WWW links that apply.
County-specific links can be found on the county page:
https://www.algenweb.org/county.html
Update the county page as needed and be willing to be a clearinghouse for volunteers looking up data in your county and anyone needing that service.
Upload your county page(s) to a host on
the WWW.
